Nantes to Eclance via Paris

We left the Loire Princess in Nantes to travel by TVG to Paris. A reasonable uneventful train trip, the only drawback was as the lights displaying the seat numbers in our carriage were not working, we could not work out where our reserved seats  were and many passengers had chosen to sit where they wanted, most probably in our seats! Never mind, we managed to grab 2 x 3 groups of seating close to each other.

After picking up the 9 seater van and packing in all our suitcases, Brian drove and I navigated our way out of Paris to the southern Champagne area east of Paris. Thank goodness Brian had already driven a left-hand drive car in Europe previously. I managed to direct us off course twice, but considering everything (rain and unfamilar roads) I didn't do too badly! It took us 4 hours when the lady at our accomodation said it takes her 2 1/2 hours! You know it was pretty tricky getting through the toll. Lucky we had the correct coin. No body wanted to use their credit cards. Can you imagine the conversion fee and rate for a Euro 7.70 and 3.10 toll. We have the use of a Tom Tom GPS but it wasn't giving us any directions, only beeping when we drove through the villages, I think to warn us of our speed.

La Femmes des Tourterelles, Eclance. Our accomodation of 4 bedrooms, lounge, dining, kitchen and 3 bathrooms and an extra toilet.  Huge barn at the back to garage our van.

Daily bread delivery.

  1. I think you are very brave in driving, Ken has done figure 8s instead of U-turns once. I am sure there will be lots of funny moments to look back on. Travel safe xx
