The day started with wine tasting at the Chateau Cassemichere. The original owners who had built this home were guilotined in the French Revolution! Muscadet, a light fruity white wine took my first choice, the other 2 varieties weren't too bad either.
After our taste buds had been tempted, we travelled to the Medieval city of Clisson. In ruins now, the 15th century castle is still impressive with its thick walls and evidence of many huge fire places where a room would have been. The day started cool but by mid morning it was warm and sunny. I appreciated the fact I had covered my face with sun block. We were back on board the ship for lunch and afternoon sailing to our next overnight mooring.

As it happened to be a public holiday weekend, te castle had locals dressed in period costume, re-enacting various scenes.

Cold and wet here, winter has arrived.
