24 days before we sail

24 days to go…and counting

My goodness, we have been in a state of waiting for over 11 months now and it is not getting less exciting.  As Easter and Anzac Day has passed, my items on the list to do are being crossed off and last minute ones are added.

We have visited our doctors and received the medical advice and drugs needed for our 104 day cruise.  Paul has a prescription for typhoid & Hep A  waiting to be filled at our Chemist for over 6 weeks now, apparently there are currently quite a few Australians travelling overseas, requiring the vaccination, and current stocks have been depleted resulting in a wait list.  Hopefully it arrives before we leave.

Banking, postal, reconfiguring of accounts (no use paying for more when we are away) will be arranged next week. I am arranging this early so that any hiccups can be sorted before we leave.  I will organise for early registration, grooming and 4 months dog food for Gracie, our little dog. We are fortunate to have 2 homes and possible kennels for her to stay in whilst we are away. Her vaccination is up to date.

I have started storing our cruise clothing and articles in the spare bedroom. It is amazing how much we are taking away with us.  2 travel clocks, one for Adelaide time, the other for ship time. Binoculars, Velvet soap for hand washing, 4 plug power board, weight hook (we need to make sure we are not paying for excess luggage), torch, stationary (highlighter, post it notes, wall magnets, calendar), Sunblock, hats and umbrellas, Corkscrew ,Round peg hanger, Zip lock bags, hand wipes, Chargers for camera batteries and Kindle….the list goes on.

Tours in 28 countries have been booked. Some of these are with Princess Tours but majority are privately booked tours with Cruise Critic passengers.  We are excited to be going to Egypt, especially after the troubles the country had experienced earlier this year and hope most of the unrest in various Middle Eastern countries doesn't escalate, not only for our benefit but for their peace and harmony.
