Bordeaux via two tgv trains to Nantes 4th May 2016

Our next adventure begins at the partly re-vamped Bordeaux Railway station where we caught the first of two trains to Nantes. There is to be a new train travelling from Paris to Bordeaux travelling up to 300 kms per hour, cutting the travel time from 3.15mins to 2 hours.  Thank goodness there are lifts for each platform, as we would have had all sorts of drama taking our suitcases up and down the stairs and escalators. For the first train, Brian had reserved our seating, however for the second, he was unable to reserve. so by the time we had hauled and stored our luggage onto the train, most of the 1st class seats were taken,  so we ended up in 2nd class (which wasn't too bad), sitting where we could find a seat. We were delayed for 2 hours in Saint-Pierre,  where we had changed trains for Nantes. I am amazed by the number of passengers using the rail transport at each station. Trains will call into the station and 50 to 100 passengers will board or disembark in a 10 minute stop. I am now starting to re-think the weight of my suitcase!
