Continued onto Notre Dame

When we were in Paris previously we had sailed along the Seine past Notre Dame Cathedral, never to walk inside, but this time we had the time and the opportunity to wander, and sometimes sit to marvel, around inside and out of this impressive cathedral. Having entered through the detailed facade into the enormous nave, we gaped in awe. The filtered light from the delicate and graceful stained glass windows seemed to make this structure more peaceful and saintly.

We paid the extra Euro to view the artefacts in the treasury.  Lots of gold, jewels and cloth used to produce various religious symbols used in the church.

To tame our grumbling tummies we went across the rue (ha!.... road) to a quaint restaurant for a late lunch. Unfortunately we both chose bagettes. The obviously true bagette in Paris has a very tough crust, making it very hard to bite into and chew. Very tasty though.  After our chewy lunch, we then wandered around the outside of Notre Dame, viewing the variuos types of scary gargoyles, bell tower (no sightings of quasimodo, the famous hunchback), spires and the famous flying buttresses. As it is springtime, the cherry trees are in full bloom, tulips and other spring flowers were all showing their glory.
