News has come through from the captain that the water levels in the river are too low and we will not be able to continue whilst this is the situation. Those who have booked extra excusions to Cesky Krumlov or Salzburg had an extra 2 hours bus trip on top of the usual time to drive from Passau. Friends we have met went to Cesky Krumlov said they travelled 6 hours for the return trip. I appreciate more my decision not to go. Instead we had a leisurely day on board the ship. I walked into Regensburg to discover the highlights of Germany's best preserved medieval cities.
By the time I arrived back to the ship my feet and ankes were aching from walking on the many cobblestone streets and marketplaces.
