Day 44 Pisa and Florence, Italy
Art, masterpieces, unbelievable sights…..
The bell tower of Pisa's cathedral which had sunk causing it to lean was our first stop on the way into Florence. Second stop for Chianti wine and olive oil tasting in Tuscany before heading into Florence for another wonderful day in Italy. Paul bought a cask of Chianti Classico; Rosso; 5 litres @ Euro 1.20 a litre. Cost us 6 Euro! And it is yummy. Poor Rob and Loz, I can't bring any of it home to share but we will toast you each night whilst we sit on the balcony overlooking the Mediterranean.
In Florence, Italian Renaissance artwork provided by the Medici family during the middle ages was everywhere. Leonardo da Vinci, Botticelli, Michelangelo, Raphael…the list goes on. Talk about overload in the arts…can that ever be possible?
I enjoyed Penne with tomatoes and basil with an Italian beer. Hot weather today but again not unbearable. We just had to chase the shade.
