 Wednesday 14th June/Thursday 15th June 2023

Life on board.

I hadn't sailed on any Carnival Cruise ship previously so being aboard the Carnival Splendor proved to be a different experience. The usual procedures and manners applied, however that décor tender to be 'heavy' in a theme of a carnival, gold and dark reds/maroon in the atrium, the two restaurants are decorated in a 'Pearl Theme' of either gold for the Gold Pearl Restaurant or black for the Black Pearl Restaurant. Big strings of pearls decorating the walls and ceilings, it reminds me of Pirates of the Caribbean and I almost expected Johnny Depp to jump out from behind a column. It is not unpleasant, just a different style.

The ship catered well to families with young and teenage children, by having a Dr, Seuss themed events throughout the cruise. They allowed young members of the families to participate in stage shows and playing bingo. The crew were very patient dealing with the younger cruisers.

For adults who wanted to enjoy some time without children around, the ship had an adult only pool and spa area at the aft of the ship.

Though, I must admit by the last couple of days on board the ship, a lot of young children had become unruly.

We enjoyed Karaoke in the Red Frog bar, listening to a singer/pianist in the Piano Bar. Fay and I headed off to bingo which was held in the theatre during the afternoon. We managed to see a 'G' Rated Comedian at 8pm in the El Morocco and 2 variety productions in the 'Spectacular' theatre.
