Kobe 13th May. Diamond Princess
Ugh, we landed in Osaka's international airport at 6.30am after a 3 hour and 40 mins flight. The plane was full and I am surprised there are now no longer any packs given to passengers to ease the longer overnight flights. Or maybe it is Qatar and Emerites which we have found that supply helpful night travelling aids. (eye shades, socks, tooth brash and paste). After going through a reasonable seamless customs and immigration, we found we had to wait until 9.45am to board our transfer bus to the ship. This time was spent chatting with other travelers and soon the be fellow passengers who had traveled from USA, England, Sweden and Australia. This is were we connected with a handful of 'Adelaidians' who had been with us from the 'cancelled flight' drama. It is shame we had to wait for so long but the time was not wasted, as we had started our holiday and were enjoying fellow traveler's experiences. It later worked out, these same people banded together with us on our shore excursions, saving heaps of money and time.
The buses arrived and we were on board our transfer. I looked around the bus to find this 50 seater bus had 8 passengers!
The bus drove on freeways lined with high fences, making it difficult for us to see very much of the city and surrounds.
As we were early to board the ship we found it uncrowded in the buffet for lunch and managed to be unpacked before muster. Ships muster on board the Diamond now do not ask for passengers to take their life jackets to the drill. I wonder if there have been one too many falls where people have tripped on the belts on their life jackets!
